Dear Lake Pend Oreille High School Parents, Students, and Community Members,

It is with great pleasure that I introduce myself to you as the new Principal of Lake Pend Oreille High School. I can’t wait to work with our dedicated staff to support the students who choose to attend this awesome school! I feel I can continue the great work of LPO as we offer an excellent academic, social, and emotional program for students in our community.

I am excited to continue my education journey which started 20 years ago as a social studies teacher. After serving 10 years as a teacher and the last 9 years as an administrator, I strongly believe in doing what is best for our students. I value creating an atmosphere where students learn to be contributing citizens of our great community. Students today need a basic education foundation, skills allowing them to get and hold a job, and the ability to properly fulfill the duties of our democracy. I acknowledge the need to build positive, professional, supportive relationships surrounded by a safe supportive atmosphere which will motivate students to take risks and perform their best.

My early childhood background is full of trials and tribulations. Some of my growing up experiences included living in a homeless shelter, visiting parents while they served time in prison, living with dysfunctional family members, and witnessing drug, alcohol and physical abuse at home. I use all of this to not only relate to students who may have similar circumstances but also to show that students from any background or set of circumstances can still make their lives successful if they are willing to work for it.

I now enjoy a life in the community where I grew up with my wife Sarah and our two children both born and raised in our lovely part of the world. I enjoy spending time on my back deck watching nature, playing disc sports, playing video games, traveling, and trying to find other unique experiences to share with my family and friends.

I am truly grateful to be here and have the opportunity to work with students. I look forward to meeting you and having conversations with you.
